A deeper dive: This recent paper, a follow up to the original paper reporting self-recognition in fish, is what inspired Christian and Giorgia to cover this topic this week. Footage shared in this episode includes footage from the study in question of the reef fish, a cat that apparently recognizes its reflection, another cat-mirror interaction, and a mirror placed in the jungle.
