A water bear, also known as a tardigrade, which can survive multiples types of extreme environments.
Hot or cold, life finds a way! In this week's episode of the Humans & Wildlife Show, we're talking about the animals that thrive and survive at extreme temperatures. We start with animals that can live in super hot environments, like ocean vents. In the second half of the episode, lookout for whiplash (or, more accurately, frost bite), because we swap to the other extreme and talk about surviving extreme cold. One fruitfly can survive liquid nitrogen, water bears (tardigrades) can survive the extreme cold (and radiation) of space, and wood frags can survive a winter frozen solid in the snow.

A deeper dive: We mention a couple scientific studies in this episode, one on proteins that allow tardigrades to survive radiation in space, and one on on fruit flies that can survive being frozen in liquid Nitrogen.
