We interview carnivore biologist Rumaan Malholtra, who studies the effects of habitat fragmentation on doglike things (think foxes, coyotes, and domestic dogs) and medium-sized carnivores. Rumaan's work spans both North and South America, where habitats experience some forms of habitat fragmentation that are both similar and different. For example, at his field sites in Chile, free roaming domestic dogs are much more likely to co-occur with fragmented habitats.
